Amaris Hotel Padang

Padang was an important trading centre of gold, spices, coffee, salt and textiles for over four centuries. During its long and prestigious history, the city has seen Indian, Portuguese, Dutch and British pass through its doors, all of whom have left their own unique mark on this ancient city. Today the city is equally known for its natural beauty spots such as Air Manis (“sweet water”) Beach, home to the famous Malin Kundang stone with its oddly human shape. Further afield, the flora and fauna of Bung Hatta Nature Reserve includes Sumatran tigers, tapirs and bears, as well as the world’s largest flowering plant, Rafflesia.
